Very true. At first I looked under mobile home parks and came up with mostly RV parks. Then I put in "trailer parks Portland Oregon" and this gave me some mobile home parks for more permanent stays.

I wonder if there is a minimum stay required in a trailer park.

If the OP could some how get to be the host at an RV park or state park, then they could stay longer. I'm not sure what the work involved is but it seems pretty minimal.

For jails, I think the only thing around Portland is the Multnomah County Jail. There's state facilities in Salem and the Coffee Creek facility which is in Wilsonville.

I agree that the OP sounds more SE than SW. I would also suggest Milwaukie as a place to look.

Incidentally, there is also the federal penitentiary at Sheridan (about 90 minutes' drive from downtown PDX): BOP: FCI Sheridan

My wife works at the VA/OHSU. Living on the hill will be out of the question for you. Probably one of the most expensive places in Portland. Try NE Portland. It's cheaper and you can take the MAX when you need to go to the VA.

I agree, living on the hill is too expensive for them, likewise anyplace in NW, close-in SW, Irvington, or Grant Park is beyond their budget today.

I'm interested in knowing what the rental rates are for a 30' RV on a permanent basis in Portland, Oregon. I, too, have to use the VA Hospital and need to use public transportation to get around. Any suggestions are welcome.

A 30' RV to rent, permanently? Do you want to rent a long term RV parking spot for an RV that you live in? In that case look for mobile home park.
