Default Condo recommendations for my new job?

Hi all, great site,

I just got a new job with Bonneville Power (905 N.E. 11th Ave. Portland, Oregon 97232)
and I will be relocating to Portland this month. So, I'm suddenly in the market for a month to month apt/condo that would give me any easy commute. It sounds like the Pearl District is nice. Do any of you have a recommendation for a specific condo/apt community or even another area? Budget = 1,000/mo

Is there a service where agents drive newbies such as myself around the city to look at different apts/condos? They have this in Florida so I was hoping that there would be something similar in Portland.

Thanks!

vttplant...

You are on the best side right now... Trust me, look up around Weidler and Broadway..past lloyd center..(28th-33nd ish streets).lots of new or cool retro places, and you could almost/maybe walk to work
If you dont mind driving...check out belmont st. by the zupans market. also hawthorne
there are new lofts down near produce row...just some ideas. BUT advise...stay on that side of the river and dont go past 39th-45th ave...(there is nothing "scary" or wrong past 39th-45th...just starts to get a little suburban feel)

Good Luck...If you want ideas of cool spots (bars, clubs, restuarants) let me know
