Default German Shepherd Dog Friendly Apartments in Downtown Portland?

We will be arriving in Portland as soon as the mountain pass to California is clear!

We are looking to rent downtown and I have done a lot of research. What I am finding is that even places that are dog friendly, do not like larger dogs or have a restricted breed clause in place.

We have a 55pd German Shepherd rescue dog, so this makes a lot of places off limits to us. We also have a cat that needs to be allowed!

The Ladd does accept our dog, but I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions that are specifically german shepherd friendly. Our pup was raised in the city so she is incredibly good & used to noise/traffic/crowds etc.

Thanks for any assistance~

How about a letter from your dog trainer and/or veterinarian about your dog's temperament. That might help where the landlord is hesitant.

Portland Pooch - Your Guide to the Portland Dog Scene has a listing for pet-friendly housing. I agree with Nell that some references can't hurt.

Thanks for the suggestions - a letter might help (and we will have no issues with letting the landlord meet our pup) but we're getting straight up sorry - no germans right from the first contact. And thanks twilighter - that is a great site - I used that to find the Ladd, but while they break down some of the size restrictions, they don't do breed restrictions.

I wonder if there is a local GSD breed club that could share that info?

Good idea - I will do a search & see what shows up. Can't hurt to send a few emails!
