What are your thoughts on the Goose Hollow neighborhood with regards to a family? We are in our late twenties with a pre-teen. We will be visiting in June, but I'd like to get several locals' thoughts.

I live in the neighborhood. The schools are as good at they get, Chapman or Ainsworth Grade Schools, West Sylvan Middle School, Lincoln High School. Very well served by transit, street parking can be a challenge but like many neighborhoods in the close in west side residents can purchase a parking permit from the City. Grocery stores are Fred Meyer on Burnside or Safeway on Jefferson. Apartments range from modern (built in the last 6 years) to vintage.

The one building that is a challenge, IMHO, is the condo building at 18th & Burnside (a primary east-west thoroughfare). Burnside isn't one of our prettier streets, virtually all the west side bus/light rail lines stop within two blocks of their front door, and the soccer stadium is across the street. A REALLY busy location. I know of no issues in the building but they do have a lot of studio size units.

PM me about specific buildings particularly if you are thinking about buying.

From the research we have done, it seems like GH will be fitting what we need. We are not able to buy at this time, so we will be renting. I know the rent-turnover rate is really low in Portland, so I am hoping to do as much as we can in the four days we will be there in June. We will probably be running around like crazy people, but we expect that. Maybe I can PM you closer to our move date or after we visit in June so I have a better idea of what buildings we are looking at. One of the places we found that we really like is at SW 18th and Montgomery area, but, it will all depend on what is actually available when we move. Is there a certain area to stay above or below?
