Let's face it....Portland Sucks!
It's cold, dark and dreary. Yes, the weather but the people too.
Lack of sunshine and warmth makes people very grouchy. Most people in Portland have an angry look on their face and are very fat and out of shape.
I think they eat to excess to overcome their depression. Drug abuse is a huge problem, especially meth.
Downtown Portland is the US capitol for Street Kids. MSNBC did a big show on it and followed around a group of kids for several weeks.
Lots of Californicators come and go. They get all excited about the lower housing costs but don't usually stay long. The long grey winters, falls, and springs cause people to go nuts.
Let's face it....Portland sounds great in theory but the reality is a much different picture. It's real bad and getting worse all the time.

Yeah, it's gray all the time--that's why the sun is shining right now. This forum never ceases to amaze me with the amount of people who come on here just to be negative or come up with things that aren't true.

Fat people? When I visit my friends there, the thing that amazes me is all the handsome, fit, graying, middle-aged guys in the cafes. I have the same thing here in California, but they're all 20-something college students.

I know what this poster might have said seems a bit harsh, but it is dead on correct.
Portland is a city in terrible shape.

Why is it that there's suddenly multiple new members spouting the same thing without anything positive to say? I thought that a specific someone had "left the building." Perhaps not?

Hello Oldtintype,
I'm not sure who you are eluding too, but you and I both know Portland has some serious problems going on. I know you love your city (I do too), but we can't let our horrible economy and drug problems continue or we will turn into something worse.
I say lets figure out a way to fix these problems instead of wiping it under the rug. (We don’t have to be disrespectful though)

Who's wiping it under the rug? Every big city has issues with crime and drugs around the world. Portland is no different. I've lived in other big cities, and grew up most of my life in one. Portland has a lot more to offer than many other citiesand a lot of great alternatives. It's not perfect, no place is, but compared to most other big cities it's a great place.

It's just a derisive name for someone from California. The name has been around for decades in a lot of western states where large numbers of Californians have moved to.
