Just after posting this my husband came home and he'd had a phone interview. He has another phone interview set up for Tuesday. So just hang in there and things will happen

Nancy,
If we all ever end up in Portland, we'll definitely have to meet for coffee!

I used to live here..
I lived here, well first in Klamath Falls, then slowly migrated north, staying a few years in Corvallis, first. I lived here for about 12 years, then moved to Phoenix. I miss it, I loved it, and that's why I stayed there for 20 years. , and that's how you would be if you moved away. You think traffic is bad here? Whether it's cars or bikes, or people, or weather, or wildlife, or what have you.....Every city will have "same but different" issues. I left here because it rained for 31 consecutive days back in 1984. I loved the heat in AZ, but there's no grass, no trees, nothing but flat land with buildings sprouting up everywhere, and it's a "right to work" state. You could bust your butt on a rooftop for 6-8 dollars an hour, and it would rarely have either of those figures as a temp while you do it. Everyone supposedly, like I did, wants to live in the sun. Most people will take a pay cut to do it. Oregon has beautiful lush greenery that is taken for granted sometimes. As you go on and off some of the off ramps here, you realize that if you got out of the car, you'd only be able to walk about 6ft off the road...it's like a "thick". In Az, you would only see a wall of concrete, (and don't laugh, but there were toilets on top of some of them).
All I'm saying is that somebody's doing a lot of Oregon bashing, and If you spent the same amount of time in any other city, anywhere, you'd find yourself doing it again....Except Amsterdam, I mean hookers, hash....isn't that what every city wants.
One thing you said, is what everyone says about Tucson, It's a big city, with small town mentality
See what I mean. For every one thing, good or bad you could say about Portland, I could do the same for Phoenix. Do you like 8 months of summer, or 8 months of winter, you like green, or brown? You like hustle and bustle, or peace and quite? All night, or daylight? Ocean or beach?
I noticed it when I first moved back...I don't know what causes it, and I know it's not me because I've heard it from other "out-of-towners",... you people need to lighten up.

Absolutely. We'll be in our wellies and Gortex and sit in a cozy booth looking out at the misty rain. Sounds heavenly. It is a humid 86° here in New York today. Some people like this extended heat, but not me.

I found Portland to be quite similar to Seattle except not as wet. I would say if you don't like Portland find that other place where it is perfect (where?) I have been to many cities and I would say Portland is a pretty fine place. Oops! I told the secret. I think the intentions were to keep more people from moving here.

My brother lives in Portland. He has his house up for sale. He's been there over 15 years. He used to love it but he says the illegals are ruining the state of Oregon. He is hoping to move to the south east after he sells his house.
