But Wikipedia says that it is.
Oregon High Desert is a unique climate zone. Plus there is a river right through there.

I have been watching a lot of Portland videos on YouTube today to get some ideas..I had no clue that Portland was known for its food! There were some good lookin' items represented. my hope is to get a hotel somewhere west side near a MAX station and buy a ticket that I can use to go to a bunch of breweries as to avoid driving while intoxicated, this will allow me to get the full enjoyment and taste as many as possible.

How is the MAX here anyway? Is it cheap and safe?

You can buy an all day ticket on the MAX for $5.00. Look up Tri Met online for schedules or go online for them. You can also go downtown to the main Tri Met office at Pioneer Square for schedules and to get all kinds of maps and tourist pamphlets and information.

As far as safe, it's as safe as any light rail as you will find in any city I would imagine.

Haha, that means nothing to me as I have never lived around or been on any light rail before. I have been on public buses...same thing? haha

But that is interesting because Ive never been on a public bus in a major city (well in Rome and Munich, Germany but that doesnt count).

Not true, as I've never felt unsafe on the MAX. The metro in St Louis for example, has muggings every day and night--needless to say, I'm always on edge when riding that thing.

Well, making a comment like "not true" about another person's obsevation is inaccurate. That's probably because you were not on the MAX train the day I was when the punk teens came on announcing they were going to smash all the "MF'ers" heads because they didn't like us looking at them. Then laughing hysterically I think because they were on happy pills or whatever. They ran off the train when some great big guys came running at them. As I said, these things can happen anywhere, even in Portland. So "true."

Maybe YOU wouldn't have felt unsafe but I did. Actually, I rode the Chicago subways for many, many years because between the transit cops and the regular cops that rode the train I felt pretty safe. I never felt as unsafe on them as I did that day on the MAX. But I guess that was just my unlucky day.

Yes and evidently the locals refused to be intimidated.
