What neighborhoods in Portland get more snow? I know that I've hiked up in Forest Park and it takes a lot longer for the snow to melt, and more falls.

Even then that's really a misnomer. That's only a day or two of snow vs. the rest of the Portland area.

Default Every once in awhile....

Occasionally Portland will get some snow that will linger a week or so. Successive snow falls can cause some accumulations that will slow things down. Common sense: if you live in a hilly area, below freezing temps and precipitation you might well have some issues getting to work.

I really cant remember anything that lasted over a week.

Back when Rose City Transit ran the buses, they took them all off the streets for about 2-3 inches of snow. I walked to work for a day or two. And I remember as a student in the Portland school system, there were no days when there was no school due to snow.
