We we visited Portland in August and brought up Canby as a possible area that would have homes on 1 or more acres. My brother-in-laws friend said you don't want to live in Canby, his friend is on the police force there and said they have a terrible gang problem. Has anyone else heard this?

I went to high school in Canby; just attended my 30 year reunion. I have a number of friends there. Are there gangs? Yes, but nothing like the big city. Canby is quite pricey so you don't have as many Mexicans as some of the other local communities like Woodburn, Gervais and Hubbard. As a result, you don't have as many gang problems. Canby does a very good job of keeping the town safe, clean and desirable. Check it out. You'll like it.
