Can anyone tell me about Canby
We we visited Portland in August and brought up Canby as a possible area that would have homes on 1 or more acres. My brother-in-laws friend said you don't want to live in Canby, his friend is on the police force there and said they have a terrible gang problem. Has anyone else heard this?

I went to high school in Canby; just attended my 30 year reunion. I have a number of friends there. Are there gangs? Yes, but nothing like the big city. Canby is quite pricey so you don't have as many Mexicans as some of the other local communities like Woodburn, Gervais and Hubbard. As a result, you don't have as many gang problems. Canby does a very good job of keeping the town safe, clean and desirable. Check it out. You'll like it.

Never trust anyone who gives such an extreme view of anything. At least in my experience. It should be said, though I'm late to the discussion, Canby is probably the most amazing suburb or Portland in terms of old school, laid back, quaint style. Check out the local newspaper for a good feel: Canbyhearld.com

I personally don't care for any of the towns along Hwy 99E between Oregon City and Salem.
Canby and Aurora are the better ones but I think Wilsonville, West Linn, Tualatin would be better.

I have a prejudice against Canby ever since they passed an anti-gay measure years ago. It was repealed by the legislature, but the fact the town passed it . . . it's on my "don't go" list.

CANBY DEFINATELY DOES HAVE A HISPANIC GANG PROBLEM.
Anybody that tells you Canby does not ------ either doesn't live there or lives there with their head in the stuck ground and doesn't get out much.

Ditto. Who wants to live in a town populated by narrow-minded bumpkins. Springfield also passed a similar measure. I'm glad to hear they were repealed.

That's because they were having a lot of problems with gay gangs roaming the streets at night, painting the town pink.
I don't know why or how this relates to gang problems?
Way to hijack a thread, fellas!

The OP was requesting information about Canby. That makes it relevant IMO.
Your post, however, doesn't add anything at all.
