Wide roads? I guess you're definitely not talking about Allen.
The trip on the MAX from Milikan to Pioneer is about 35 minutes, definitely nowhere near 10 (trimet.org).
Traffic is pretty bad, they've developed so much and the roads can't really handle it. I find it completely ridiculous that 217 is 2 lanes each way. Definitely needs at least 3.
It's a pretty good place to live, but a lot of people here are giving Beaverton undue praise. Personally, if I were to stay in the Portland area, I'd live in Tualatin/Sherwood. I like how they are rural-ish but still close to Portland.
Also, Washington Square mall is great, but Cedar Hills isn't really anything special. They've improved it a lot but most of the stores IN the mall don't stay in business. Now that there's a BestBuy across the street from WS there isn't really any reason to hang out at Cedar Hills besides the theater.

It's actually farther away... But, if you can afford to commute, depending on your price range for houses, you can get a lot more land in the Sherwood area. Now that I think about it, I don't know the Tualatin area that well, since it's more spread out than Sherwood (Tualatin is 8 square miles).
I think it's pretty cool how my area of Beaverton is completely suburban, but there are farmhouses with multiple acres only about 2 miles away.
Nancy, have you ever been to the area?

Public transport from those areas is not great (since Nancy mentions wanting that).
It will take you ages to get downtown.

If you want to get downtown fast, your best bet is to live by the max line, or to live right by a bus stop that goes directly to a station. You won't really find that in anywhere but Beaverton or Hillsboro. Like I said, the MAX takes at least 30 minutes to get downtown. I can usually get there a bit faster in a car.

No. I have never been there. I guess that is why I ask so many questions. I have ordered tons of books and done on-line research, but of course nothing beats actually visiting which I hope to do in April. THEN , when I sell my condo here..... I will be more informed.

Well, if you look on google earth, search Scholls Ferry Oregon, and follow Scholls west until it hits Roy Rogers. That's the spot I was talking about where there's a big Burb/Rural contrast.
