My impression of King City is that it's a tight-knit, friendly little place. The houses are modest and well-kept. My brother wants to live there, but he's only 41. It's surrounded by recent McMansion and strip-mall growth of Bull Mountain.

Charbonneau is more upscale and also well-kept. The houses are bigger, a little newer. I prefer the surroundings there to King City, because you feel like you're more out in the country. I believe it's close to the urban growth line. Some people who work in Salem like living there, because they can still live in the Portland area, but have an easier drive to work. It's on the south end of the Portland metro area.

We are planning a move from a little town in Maine to Oregon in the spring. We are looking for information about Beaverton, and Forest Grove, especially mobile home parks in those towns. We are both retirement age but will still work. Any information will be appreciated.

Traffic is frantic, people are rushing, it's not pleasant to try to get places with four lanes of traffic speeding by, etc. I'm sure it's nice to walk around a certain neighborhood of tract homes or on park trails, and there are some nice parks there, but it's not a friendly place to try to do errands or go places like a cafe or something on foot (or bus since the routes are on these main roads). You're really tied to a car to do most things as compared to close in Portland. I'm sure there are a few sections close to MAX where you can do a lot of foot but not as a whole.
I agree that it all seems really spread out, with mini malls. Large streets connecting probably nice neighborhoods, with small streets. I was only there briefly, but that was my impression. But to buy a house, I bet there is a lot more room than areas of Portland. 1/2 acre sounds like a lot!
