Thank you for the great comments everyone. I won't be swayed by the negative comments. I actually did live in Portland for several years a while back, when I was younger and single; but I lived in the NW 23rd/Nob Hill area, and stayed very close to home and downtown. I have almost no knowledge of the suburbs, so this is very helpful

Name 1 alternative to Tualatin Sherwood Rd. for getting from Sherwood to I-5.
Talk to any local. Sherwood has a horrible traffic problem for getting anywhere outside the local area.
Want to get to downtown Portland? Gonna take you well over an hour in traffic. Probably much closer to 90 minutes to 2 hours at rush hour.
It will be nearly stop and go the entire way. If you live in Sherwood, make sure you have a well stocked wet bar. You will need at least 3 doubles when you get home to calm your frazzled nerves.

blazen--I DO live in Sherwood. My husband commutes to downtown Portland for work. It normally takes him about 35 minutes. As far as alternatives to TS Road...try Herman, Avery, Tonquin, Mallery, etc. BTW, I don't need a well stocked wet bar. I take back roads and am not stressed at all

Do you live in one of those new cookie cutter houses on a postage stamp lot?
I hope you're not getting sick from your house. They were all built with formaldehyde soaked press board. You should do a little research on that.
Enjoy!

I didn't realize you were our builder. Nice to meet you! Can you tell me a few more things about my home?
Don't worry, my husband is retired. He works for fun now

I don't live in Sherwood but I travel out to McMinnville for business about every two months and have for almost four years. I have customers in Sherwood, Dundee, Newberg too.
I worked in Wilsonville for nine years in job that required me to deliver to Sherwood and Tualatin on a routine basis.
If there is a way to get to and from without using Tualatin Sherwood Rd. or Boones Ferry Rd. it is news to me.
Bypassing Sherwood by taking I5 to Wilsonville Rd to Newberg is a route I use often .
As far as I know, there isn't a secret ramp to I5. You can get on at Wilsonville, North Wilsonville, Tualatin Sherwood Rd. or Boones Ferry/Lake Oswego where Bridgeport Village is now adding to traffic.
Sherwood is a really nice town but IF you need to commute to downtown Portland on I5 there is bad traffic. If you don't need to make this commute, I'd say it is a really great choice for suburban living.

Check out his/her other posts. This person is on a mission to be rude or to make people feel bad. The mods will catch up soon enough, its sounds like the same one that keeps getting banned and comes back with a new name.

nanannie--I know, I was just having fun
Lee--There are quite a few backroads that avoid T_S road, and most of Boones Ferry. I have shown these to the shuttle drivers at the car dealerships there and they were very happy to have some alternatives. We use the north Wilsonville entrance to I-5 most of the time.
