I play a lot of tournament Texas Hold'em. When we come up to play in Gresham it seems the route from 205 to downtown has gotten pretty seedy. What gives? In places the drive is down right scarry. I don't remember it being that way when I lived there.

Very little new development...What's there is starting to show it's age and look really shabby.

It looked OK years ago..............

I wish people would quit saying "Gresham" to refer to anything east of 205. The area you are referring to is 100% PORTLAND. GRESHAM DOES NOT BEGIN UNTIL 174th av. And 97% of Gresham doesn't go west of 181st. So you should change your thread to Powell blvd. through East Portland is pretty seedy.

I think you could be right, It may be the approch to Gresham that is so worn. My last trip a few weeks ago it reminded me of South Central in Phoenix. Almost a "Little Mexico" setting. Parts of it looked like where I used to live on 16th and Alberta.

Where do you think all the poor from North Portland have moved to? Crime reports and economic reports of all sorts point this out. The area between 205 to 181st and between Burnside and Powell has had significant challenges in the past decade. It's not as bad as Alberta was in the 80's for instance, but SE Portland has become the place where the poor go so they can afford to live.

Is everyone on this Forum well off? The lower class gets ragged on a lot on this board.

I wouldn't say well off but comfortably middle class. Certianly the main streets look bad but the old neighborhoods around powell butte are still nice. Those areas of Portland have never been an Orange County or Plano, Tx. East of 181st and south of Powell is still very nice and is actually Gresham. Downtown Gresham is nicer and more lively than downtown Milwaukie. 181 and burnside sucks because of low income housing and MAX.

Per one person? I'd say making $30,000+ a year. Couples 50,000-60,000+ a year.
