My mom had some relatives visit from IOWA/NEBRASKA. My mom doesn't know her way around Portland and my Aunt hates driving in downtown so that left me to play chauffeur them around. Took them to the Rose Test Garden at Washington Park, they loved it. My moms Aunt and Cousin are huge bookworms and there houses look more like libraries, so I took them to Powells. But before that we stopped for a slice across the street at Sizzle Pie Pizza. I also drove them around downtown. They loved Portland!!

Getting used to the darker and wetter days. Starting to light the candles and enjoying my warm beverages.

Sounds like a great plan -- is it unrelentingly wet from now til April, or do you get the occasional bright, clear winter day?

I think occasional bright, partially clear winter day would be more accurate.

Sounds cozy and refreshing. I'm getting frustrated in my neck of the woods! Here it is November and it's supposed to be in the 80's for the next few days

Yes, we do. And if we get a really cold front it will usually be bright and sunny rather than snow. I remember shortly after I moved here we had unusual cold-- 19 degrees or so for days and it was bright and sunny the whole time (I was hoping for snow). The gloom and doom on this board about the weather is due in part to the days being short in the winter so combined with the rain it can seem like it's never sunny. If you work indoors with no windows I can understand why people feel like sun never shines, because it's dark by the time they leave work. It was actually beautiful yesterday (and most of the long weekend) but people are just going to focus on today's rain. Yesterday I was out enjoying the sun.

Yesterday was dry but the wind was fierce. I had to get some plants planted so after work (around 6:30/7 pm), I went out with my head lamp and put them in the ground. I still have more to do but am hoping I can start earlier on Wednesday night (maybe before 6?) so it isn't pitch black. I'll still need the headlamp.

Now to be able to get out during daylight and get some weeding done.
