Me and my friend will be arriving at PDX Portland airport at 11:40pm on a wednessday night. Since we will not be renting a car is a taxicab our only option at that hour of the night?

Are there airport shuttle vans that may be cheaper than a cab?

If we are forced to take a taxicab how much do they cost? the trip is 11 miles according to google maps.

Another question is besides Safeway on Powell Blvd and 39th which is open 24 hours a days,is there anywhere else opened to get something to eat?

We are staying at motel 6 portland central. The front desk person at motel 6 portland central told me that motel 6 has a microwave for guests and to go to safeway and purchase frozen food and microwave it. She also told me that Dominos pizza delievers to the motel until 12midnight weeknights and 1am weekends.

Are there any other late night options for food?

Me and my friend will be in Portland for 2 nights and 3 days before we take Amtrak to Seattle for another 3 days.

This is a pleasure trip to Portland. Back in June 2008 which was 5 years ago was the last time I was in Portland.

Is this location where Motel 6 Portland Central is located near 39th and se Powell Blvd an okay location to stay in if we are using public transportation to go to Hawthorn district, pearl district, old town/chinatown??

If you check on Trimet.org you can plug in the bus route. I'm not sure how late the 75 runs but in theory you could take the Red Line Max to the Hollywood Transit Station and then take the 75 directly to 39th and Powell. But the motel 6 is several blocks down so you'd have to walk too. Cab is probably your best bet and will probably be $30 or so.

The Original hotcake house (diner type and breakfast) is open 24 hours. It's a walkable-ish trek from the Motel 6 (it's on 10th and Powell) There's also a cafe near the Pancake House that was open 24 hours last I heard at around SE Milwakie and Powell. The area is OK. There's a strip joint next to the Motel 6 but it's an OK neighborhood. There's also a Wendys and McDonalds and Burgerville on Powell closer than the Hotcake house but I don't know if they're open 24 hours.

Where is the pancake house?

Last Red Line Train is at 11:30 or something as I once found out the hard way. After you wait for bags and such, you're going to miss it so Taxi is really your only option.

There are a few bars open late night along Powell. The Safari Club is next to that Motel 6 and has food, be warned it is a strip club. I can't think of much else that is open that late within walking distance other then Pancake House. If you're going to go that far though, there maybe some options on 12th and Division, and 39th and Division, both are only a couple of more blocks walking.

Personally I don't think that's a very good "central" location to explore everything you want, you'll be at the whim of Trimet Buses too much for my taste. If you rent some bikes it might not be so bad, but then I'd worry about the bikes getting stolen. As ot says, it's an OK area, but not a good one.

Another late night option you might want to check out the next night if the mood strikes. It's 2.6 miles from your motel and a fun little place to grab a meal. Cajun and comfort foods are their speciality and their Tomato Basil Pesto Mac is to die for Open till 2AM week nights, 4AM weekends.

You should be alright from your location depending on how late the 75 is running.Taking the Max downtown from The Hollywood Transit Center will give you easy access to The Pearl, Old Town/China Town, Northwest, Downtown, etc., but definitely check out the tri-met site for info on Bus 75. They've rerouted things a bit due to a big project they've got going on on 39th(Cesar Chavez Blvd.) between Hawthorne and Division.

The last number 75 bus pulls out of the Hollywood transit center at 1:03am. But due to rerouting it will not be going down to Cesar Chavez and Powell. I don't know the exact detour but I believe it will be east of Cesar Chavez and will take you even farther from your hotel. I would just stick with the cab.

To be certain, Google TriMet trip planner and plug in the number 75 bus schedule.

As for cab prices, we took one to our house further out on Powell, about a mile from the Motel 6 and it was $32.
