Hoping we can get some advice in this forum regarding our upcoming move.
My husband, myself and our two kids will be moving back to the Portland area in 9 months. My husband is a native Oregonian(raised in Corvallis) and I lived there 12 years before we moved down to Northern California in 2006.
We do not want to go back to the area we were living in before, which was Forest grove. It was gorgeous there, but we did not care for the schools and found it to be a little far from shopping.
My husband will be working in Hillsboro.
We want an area that he can commute to Hillsboro from, that has GOOD schools and we can get a larger house with a fairly large lot. We don't mind subdivisions, but don't like cookie cutter subdivisions. Ideally we're looking for a 1/2-1 acre for $500K or below.
Our oldest child will be at college, so we only have to worry about getting our youngest through middle and high school. We'd like a place we will feel comfortable possibly retiring in.
Since we know the Portland area pretty well, we have all sorts of ideas, but it's all pretty overwhelming. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
