Thanks for the reply. I'm getting into the networking field, not fixing hardware on computers or writing programs. Network Administrator, hopefully Cisco Router analyzer within eight years. Constant rain sounds rough but I knew that already.

Oh, and Oregon does have the shore. I would say the two closest ones are more like Cape May or Sea Isle.

The show does take some truths and exaggerate them. But not really accurate rep of the Portland area. People here are much more normal than what you see in the show

It isn't the same kind of rain you get in New Jersey. It is more of a mist, a drizzle, a could rain, a light rain, a heavy rain, a down pour, sleet, and so on. Seriously there is about a dozen different ways to say rain there because all of them are different.

It could be a mist rain while you are walking around and you will still be dry where ever you go to. Though Portlanders tend to invest in good rain coats and stock up on hoodies.

Oh god I hate that show, it is basically a Californian's view of what Portland is. Not really anything close to what Portland really is.

The people here are ok. You know how people can bust your balls in South Jersey/Philly? That really doesn't happen in Portland. BUT, that same neighbor in jersey will give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. In Portland they are polite and smile but sometimes I think they wouldn't take the time to even pee on me if I was on fire.

There are a couple things here and there that are kind of true on the show, which I will admit is funny, but overall it is a really dumb show that doesn't reflect Portland at all.

IMHO, it is simply a show about hipsters and other odd characters that could be set in that kind of atmosphere in certain ares of many different cities. Kind of like "The Real Housewives of (fill in the blank)." You may be able to find those types here and there, but an entire city of them? No.
