I don't know how many of you are long-time Portlanders, but if you are, you probably know about Bill Porter. Such a great, and inspirational story.

It was so sad to read of his death, which occurred last Tuesday. I liked one of the comments on the Oregonian article, suggesting the new transit bridge be named for him. It really is a perfect name, for so many reasons.

RIP Mr. Porter, I remember him well, my neighborhood was part of his territory and my mother often bought from him. He was a kind and gentle soul.

I remember complaining one day about having to walk home in the rain and I was told in no uncertain terms "if Mr. Porter can do it so can you".

I do hope they name something after him and I would love to see a statue also.

I had missed that, thanks for mentioning his passing. Never met him, but always wanted to. His perseverance was incredible.

I remember him calling at my home, selling to my Mother. She always found something she 'needed'.
