Commuting to Wilsonville
Considering a job related relo to an area with an easy commute to Wilsonville. What are the nearest communities? I'd like to be 15 minutes or less. Prefer a relatively new, 4 or 5 BR home with good public high schools. TIA!

West Linn
Wilsonville
Tualatin: fifteen minutes only if you can go a back way and avoid the Tualatin Sherwood Rd. /I 5 interchange. There are homes with addresses in Tualatin and West Linn that are closer than fifteen minutes.
Sherwood: ditto
New, large homes in all of the above, I think all the schools are good but don't have kids so don't pay attention and don't know for sure.
I worked in Wilsonville for almost nine years and commuted from SE Portland via I205. I would not recommend commuting that far, it got really, really old. Always wrecks and bottlenecks too.

Thanks...
...I am hoping for a tolerable commute; for most of my career I've been able to manage a 10-15 minute drive, generally against the flow of traffic.

You should not have a problem unless you have a really low budget for the house. These areas are newer and more expensive than others that are farther away.
There are back roads leading into Wilsonville from several directions, if you come from the south though, you must cross the Willamette river on I5. The communities that are south might be more rural than you want though.
There are nice new and newer homes right in Wilsonville. It has grown by several thousand people since I started working there back in 1995. The high school is less than 10 years old. The grade schools are newer too. I believe they are part of the West Linn school district and are good schools.

Consider Canby. Wonderful community with a quaint little downtown. It's downtown park even has a large, old fashioned gazebo for musicians. I went to high school there. The high school has been expanded and remodeled and is quite up to date. Has state of the art everything and the football team is excellent. The parents in Canby have always supported the school as have the taxpayers. Check it out. Around 15,000 people made up quite evenly of farmers, small business owners and Portland area yuppies looking for the good life.

are you living in Canby currently? The crime has increased and the schools are pretty crowded.

Thanks everyone!
We were there this weekend and saw several newer, larger homes of interest in Wilsonville, Sherwood and Tualatin. It's all a very comfortable area, and all three communities are in relative close proximity to one another. The office is right off of the N. Wilsonville exit.

Glad you got a look see, careful on your price, things are soft (no matter what the realator says), the north wilsonville ramp is an easier access than the wilsonville one, also if it is in your price range, look at West Linn, good luck I retired out of state, less traffic, lower cost of living,
