The flurries of snow today were rather enjoyable, albeit sparse.

However, it looks like we have a looming snowstorm on the approach this weekend. KOIN was reporting 2-3 inches on Friday, with up to an additional 5 inches on Saturday.

I just switched from a 2011 RWD BMW to a 2014 AWD Subaru last week, and I must say, it was definitely good timing. The AWD and winter-focused Subaru will serve me well this weekend, me thinks!

I'm planning on hibernating over the weekend. Living at the top of Murray Hill in Beaverton is not fun with ice on the hill.

Hope everyone stays safe, and keep a close eye on the weather alerts. It's ramping up to be one hell of a storm. It was originally just supposed to rain this weekend, which turned to flurries, which turned into all out snow, so it seems that the intensity is increasing.

I call dibs on throwing the first snowball, though!

I'm seeing rain and mixed snow in the weather reports. So we'll see very little ice, most of which will be gone by noon.

It would be fun if it ACTUALLY snows rather than just threat of snow that never materializes.

I have a friend who is an avid skiier, and she owned both a BMW X3 and a Subaru Outback and she said that the Subaru blew the BMW out of the water when it came to snow/ice traction.

My son & DIL are exhibitors at the Sportsman Show. They have several engines on display. This storm scares the heck out of me because after breakdown they will need to load a trailer and get out of there. I hope the Expo Center folks opt to let exhibitors park until the roads are clear and safe.

I saw snow yesterday (Wednesday) in Portland. Didn't stick, but it did snow.

But as for the OP ... it would be more accurate to say that winter is back. Because we had enough cold weather, and even some snow, earlier. It just got sunny and warmer for a few weeks.

The first day of winter was December 21st. It will be the same day this year, and on the 22nd in 2014, going back to the 21st after that.

Pretty well statewide I think. Not the first time this winter.

Dry as a bone where I am at. Yesterday around 11:am there were a few flurries. That's about it. The weather reports keep changing about my area. I wonder if we will see any snow here. But it is cold.
