I think the summers feel downright hot, but most of the year feels quite cold. Though it rarely gets truly cold like the Midwest, the vast majority of the year Portland definitely experiences what I call "jacket weather". I keep my coat handy from late September to early June generally here.

Portland is typically a cool, mild temperature place for me.

It depends on what you mean and what you're comparing to. Compared to much of the continental U.S. it's 'mild' with cooler summers but warmer winters.

Am I the only one to notice that many, if not all, of the attributes of Portland's climate that we love to argue about, poll about, and wax philosophical over, are not nearly as intrinsic now as once ago? I've been out this morning in some of the most intense downpour and cool, miserable overcast as any November or December morning one might care to name. What's up with that? This past winter was the driest this area has ever seen. Ever. I know, I know, what will we talk about if we can't talk about the weather? I can think of lots but that's me.

It seems like Portland's weather is becoming more similar to weather back east.

I was born/raised in the Midwest. Portland is unbelievably nice, summer & winter, compared to that.

It's not. Not at all.

Go back east in the middle of summer OR winter and see for yourself.

HINT: The Pacific Ocean.

I suppose it could be getting 'warmer'...which makes you feel that it's becoming more similar to weather back east, but again, it's not. If anything, based on your alls assumptions it would be getting closer and closer to upper Northern California valley type weather as things change. This is a more reasonable assumption.

I voted for "More cool/cold" although I'm on the side of cool, not so much cold

Lived 40+ years in Portland. Cool but not cold. Winter is pretty mild compared to North Dakota. After moving to Texas and getting used to the heat, I find Oregon summers to be mild in the day cool at night. I wear a jacket when it gets near 70 degrees.

Cool to warm. I am from S.F. originally so I love places where wind is minimal. I didn't wear lipgloss all through the 80's and early 90's because my hair would stick to my lips. . The Summers here are perfectly warm to hot!

portland is suffering from mild drought - not surprising that people say the past winter was the driest in a while.

Along the i5, seattle is the only city not in drought.
