Why does everyone always say Portland has such great transit? (Hillsboro: credit, tax)

I have paid for a cab home before, it was 70 bucks but I tipped him good.

It was when I was living in oregon city so that's probably why it was that much

Cabs are insanely expensive if you're traveling more than just a few miles.

One time I was out in Oregon city and I missed my bus and I only had to go to oak grove and I got a designated driver, it was only 10 bucks. I gave her 20 bucks.

Since the transit system is large and complex, sometimes (e.g. when transferring to a connecting route), you do have to arrive at the stop a half hour early. e.g. I have to transfer from MAX to a bus that runs every 30 minutes. There are several times during the day when the bus is scheduled to depart 1 minute before MAX arrives. Unfortunately for me, that bus does leave on time about 90% of the time.

Portland has a decent system. Not sure why everyone is mentioning the old street car system like it has any bearing on the subject. Virtually every western city has abandoned street car tracks beneath the roads. Even (gasp) Phoenix! Maybe I missed something.
