I have been reading posts about how difficult it is to get an RN job in Portland.
I was hoping to get some advice on where to apply and how I can get noticed!
I have seen the positions for Providence, Legacy, Kaiser,Adventist, PeaceHealth. I submit my app and no calls back for interviews. except one where they hired someone else. So, I am trying to network but it's difficult. I was hoping to hear from others for advice? I have my BSN. I used to work in L&D and now support an EHR. Since it was not Epic I realize I have no chance there. I'm working on my masters in informatics. Just some advice would be appreciated. Since my husband lives there I am kind of stuck having to search for a job in Portland where the job market is extremely tough. If anyone would like to network with me I would appreciate the networking!!

Just some words of encouragements for you today. I know many parents of my kid's friends who work at major hospitals and were hired out of state. All of my family's doctors here in Portland are transplants. Networking seems to be extremely important in this area but we do have many hospitals in the Portland metro. Good luck.

I don't know why it would be harder than anywhere else. We have the same run-of-the-mill hospitals here just like any other city.

I would think the informatics degree would help a lot. Not knowing the structure of your program but if it is online look for participants in that program in Portland metro as one route to a network.

Nell,
I am in the online informatics degree at CU Denver. They recommended joining the local HIMSS group. That's my next plan :-)
