I get it. Everyone has a different level of expectations. The OP should definitely factor this when considering their options....

I don't go out for breakfast/brunch all that much (don't like the crowds), but I had a pretty good one at Country Cat in the Montavilla area.

Mother's. Pine State. Best place I've had is Bumblekiss.

Screen Door is mediocre and definitely not worth the wait. It's one of those places like Voodoo Donuts - self-reinforcing popularity. It's popular because it's popular, even though it kind of sucks. I'd put Country Cat in the same bin, though it's a bit better. It's only popular because it managed to get on Food Network, not because it's actually some amazing dining experience.

People actually like Stepping Stone?

I've been there several times and the best I've ever gotten was no better than Denny's on a bad day. Mediocre food. Rude service.

First time, I had the biscuits and gravy. Passable if you think it's just supposed to be a big ball of baked flour with flour sauce on top. Blech.

Second time, I had their meat loaf (I realize that's not breakfast...). It actually wasn't terrible. Their refrigerator was broken so no beer was available.

Third time, the place smelled like a musty cellar. There was no one inside. One employee was sitting outside and didn't even acknowledge our presence. Left without eating. This occurred right around dinner time on a weekend.

I'll never go back.
