That's the sort of thinking I'd expect from the rabidly anti-growth towns in the state who do everything they can to ensure they keep people away and don't have thriving economies.
Well if you want to know what the problem is with new high-paying industries (e.g., high tech) growing in a certain location, take a look at what has happened in the Bay Area in the past few years (and in the late 90s). This is trickling up to Portland, which does not bode well for affordability for people of more modest incomes, who nevertheless do important, necessary jobs.

If it's not someone you actually know, it's hard to comment on whether anything they post on a forum about their personal experience is likely to be true, or just someone who's angry enough to say "I'm going to do it for real this time!" while drunk and raging on the internet.
When they threaten to move to Oregon and then post details about their three day road trip to Portland, Oregon and then post their living location as Portland, Oregon and then go into to detail about their life in Portland, Oregon, one can rightfully assume that they actually moved to Portland, Oregon.

We definitely do not have enough housing. Those stupid UGB fanatic refuse to allow more single detached family homes to be built. Soon they will be a bunch of old, lonely, decrepit hippies. If you alienate your Intel employee tax base by refusing to allow them to buy homes, your towns will soon decay into ruins.

Even in Beaverton there are oodles of single family homes on large lots. They're not that expensive either.

As we see here with some posters, sometimes house hunting can be very stressful.
