Okay, so I have one night tomorrow Jan 30th without the kids, all by myself.

Where should I go? What would be fun? Memorable? Relaxing?

I don't want to jam a bunch of stuff into the day like I'm site-seeing. I've lived in Portland for 10 years and have never really gotten to explore much. I've been to Mt. Hood, Multnomah Falls, Lincoln City, various towns in the Willamette Valley.

I don't get much time off so I'm under a lot of pressure to make the most of this one day. For example, I could see going to Jai Ho! and maybe just enjoying a nice dinner somewhere before hand. On the other hand, I could also see driving out to Breitenbush and just relaxing but they require 2 nights and are occupied. Skydiving would be pretty awesome as would taking a tour of a really cool brewery, or going to a shooting range. I'm really open to new experiences that might be outside of my comfort zone. If I could get in somewhere, a spa would be heaven!

I might mention that I'm transgender. Not that it matters too much, but there might be some things that are likely to be more GLBTQ friendly than others. Not sure that there are any trans-friendly shooting ranges, so if I did something like that I would likely adjust my appearance accordingly.

Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Well, you got nice weather for your day. 1 day is a lot of pressure.

Personally I probably would have considered taking a drive out to Astoria if you've never been. Done the galleries, had a nice lunch/dinner, climbed the column for the view. Relax at the bookstore, grab a coffee, maybe tour the maritime museum, the wharf, and the canneries.

The day was soooo beautiful I decided to drive out to the coast without a plan. Went to Cape Lookout and hiked out to the point and back. Highly recommended thought it is not really a casual hike. I planned enough to bring water and snacks and just hung out at the park until after sunset. It was so relaxing. I drove back to Portland and enjoyed dinner at Bollywood Theater on Division. The place was packed but a great way to end the day.

Today, I'm just going to relax!
