How popular is bowling??
I've lived in Buffalo and Orlando, I'll be moving to Portland soon.
Bowling's very big in Buffalo , and almost non-existent in Orlando .
What about Portland?
Are leagues popular?
To the schools have bowling teams?
Is bowling a common water-cooler conversation?
Thanks!

I'll take the lack of interest in this thread as "it's not very popular here".
LOL

I'll accept your challenge , absorb your insult , and respond with...
It's one of those things you have to search for, but if it's popular, you'll find it easily. I'm gonna assume you've never gone searching for it in the Midwest or Northeast. It's very easy to find there.

I only know of Interstate Lanes in NoPo. I'm sure if you're enthusiastic and hang around at some alleys, you can find other interested people/join a league.

Yeah, I'm not too concerned that I won't find it, but if one must be enthusiastic, it's probably not a popular event/sport. No biggie, we're moving there anyways. Maybe I'll start a bowling revolution in the PNW!

So long as the music is good and the people aren't too weird, I'm always down for some good cosmic bowling...so long as it's cheap. I got unlimited games for 4 hours including shoes for $7 last week in Tacoma. Now that's my kind of deal!

Actually, I live in the northeast (Long Island) and I occasionally enjoy bowling, but it is NOT popular here at all. It was in the fifties and sixties , with bowling leagues and all, I think.

To be fair, Long Island is basically it's own country, so that doesn't count.

There are a number of bowling allies througout Portland. A newly remodeled night spot is in an old bowling alley. If those are the crowds you move among, you can consider it popular. I don't believe any of the colleges bowl competitively, and you won't find it an everyday water-cooler topic. But it does exist.
