Question Dawson Park Area.

Hello,

I had a question for those who live in Portland. I am planning to relocate to Portland, and I've been looking online and doing research on the different areas that I think I might want to live in (afford). I'm flying out next month to spend a week out there and want to check out the areas as well. My question is about the Dawson Park area, on N Morris street, is it a "ok" area to live? What are the people like? Ok for a indie-like black guy? And what I mean by that is I am not the "typical black guy". I'm into indie rock, and dress "hipster-like" and like art. By the way, I feel lame describing myself, its hard i guess.

If that area isnt then what area? I hear good things about the Hawthrone area, I dont know if i can afford that area tho. I am aiming for 500-600 a month (550 would be nice), but I would like to be in a "creative area" with like minded people.
