Is it possible to buy acreage within a thirty minute commute of Portland? If so, where? Thanks for any help.

How much acreage? You could go north into the outskirts of Vancouver. Otherwise, be ready to open your wallet...very, very wide.

At least three acres but I'd say no more than fifteen acres (at the most).

Better have at least $500,000 in that wallet before you start looking.

Aw, man, I wish! I'm not even near to ready. I'm sorry, I hope you have some good luck selling.

Good lots are hard to come by but they are out there. My wife and I spent 6 months looking every weekend before we found this one. Unfortunately she lost her job and now we have to sell.....we were planning on living here for 15+years but only made it 2! I agree with Busch71 though, land alone is going to run you at least 75,000/acre for bare land. We are selling our house for 589,000 and that's not making too much equity on what we invested to build it.
