Yep, the kicker isn't growing by leaps and bounds because Portland has fewer hiring opportunities than Memphis and Cleveland.

Of course, the ra-ra Portland crowd will deny that the economy in their city is dismal and Portland's workers have no rights, but hey at least I don't live there anymore!

I wouldn't call it dismal, but it mirrors French and Italian style stagnation.

It says we are 37 in job opportunity, 41 in cost of living, and 34 job satisfaction. That sounds pretty across the board average to me. I am fine with those numbers based off their simple system.

We are doing good with unemployment, back to 2007 numbers.

Portland does have a middle income issue that many other cities are also suffering from. The state and metro should be focusing on manufacturing and trade to help increase those numbers to help improve middle incomes.
