So it's 11:45 pm and the outside tempt is 80.6. It does seem strange due to the fact the weather for most of the year is VERY different. All in all it could be worse I guess.

Although my one 12,000 btu portable kept the master bedroom cool, little made its way down the hall to the living/kitchen area even with the aid of the high velocity fan in the hallway.

It will be hotter still tomorrow so I'll try it in the main room and move it to the master if needed latter.

So much for the people who say "It never really gets uncomfortably hot in the Pacific Northwest".

I had the opportunity to buy a house in PDX, #1 on the list was central AC, #2 was a garbage disposal. my house stays a lovely 73 degrees and i'm so happy. my bedroom was 67 last night around 10; the rest of the house was 72. we turned the air off at 11, turned it on at 2 p.m. we lived in a rental in 09; that was the year the temp went up to 103 for a couple of days, my house stayed 98 degrees. I then vowed if I had a chance to buy, central air was a must. I think our landlord then installed air; he had a nice furnace and could've installed an AC unit for peanuts, but he was too cheap. that was the most miserable summer I have ever spent. in our new house there is a sun room, gets very hot; in 13 we could fry an egg in there, so we bought an 18,000 btu unit and it cooled it off nicely the room is 800 sq feet and does not have any heat or air ducts. that window unit was a life saver; window units are worth every penny.
