Default Tigard..

I'm an Arizona native but I did live in Tigard, in the foothills of Bull Mountain, just north of King City, from October of 1995 until February of 1997. I lived in an apartment complex called Charteonhoff (sp?) east of 99W, and back then it was a decent neighborhood. Does anyone on these forums live in that vicinity? I'm just curious on how much it's changed in the last 11 years and whether it got better or worse.

Well, it probably has changed a lot in 11 years. The top of Bull Mtn is now full of housing developments. If you have kids, it's a great place to be. Good schools, lots of playmates. And it is still quite safe. Sounds like house prices are still decent, but getting higher (as is everywhere else!).

99W is now a mess due to all the people, but sounds like it's been a mess for a while. Costco has now come in (closer to I-5) and it generates a lot of traffic. I did make it from the top of Bull Mtn Rd to I-5 yesterday afternoon in about 10 minutes, so it is possible, you just gotta hit the lights right.

I don't know what Tigard was like 11 years ago, but I really like the area now. I feel totally safe on Bull Mtn and would easily move there and raise kids.

Is that what you are looking for, or something else more specific?

Thanks FoxyKnox. I'm not looking to move there or anything, I was just curious to see how much the influx of Californians and possibly illegals from south of the border has affected that area, and like you mentioned, the fact that Bull Mountain has a lot of new housing developments doesn't surprise me. When I lived there 12 years ago, there were starting to build new houses on Bull Mountain and King City. 99W just southwest of King City was still fairly rural, and they opened an Albertson's supermarket there sometime in late 1995 or early 1996. I also remember the areas closer to downtown Tigard, around the 217, and Washington Square Mall. Has that changed a lot too?

Thanks again for the info.

I remember Tigard, and downtown Portland had a lot of coffee shops, in fact, in December of 1995, I was walking around downtown Portland, on a cold Saturday morning, and I walked by this coffee shop and it smelled good, so I decided to go in and check it out. I ordered a fancy Espresso Latte.. something, and it was pretty tasty, but I'll tell you, 10 minutes after I drank that, I was so wired from all that caffeine, I felt like scaling the side of the US Bank Tower!

That's too funny! I like coffee, but have to have something to eat with it or else I get jittery. Wa Square is a busy shopping area, lots of box stores across 217 from the mall. I have no idea what Tigard was like, but it has lots of strip malls along 99 now.
