Portland's rainy season can last anywhere from 7 to 10 months, and it drops below freezing at night maybe 1 out of 3-4 nights in the winter.

There is no sales tax on most things. There are point of sale taxes on gasoline, alcohol, cigarettes, paint, and electricity. The state doesn't call it a sales tax, but it is a tax and you pay it when you buy that item.

The paint 'fee' applies only to Multnomah County and is supposed to address the extra cost of disposing of waste paint and paint cans. FWIW the waste paint is mixed together and offered nominal cost.

If there is a special tax on wine I haven't seen it at the checkout stand although there may be a tax at the wholesale level. Hard liquor is only sold at liquor stores. Yes there is a tax on gasoline as there is in every state I have traveled.
