Your problem, however, OP, is not a landlord tenant problem. Your problem is a roommate politics problem. That is not addressed in Oregon landlord tenant law. Neither is it your landlord's problem that you chose a jerk to shack up with.

My advice to consult your landlord before you move out is because with your name as a legal tenant on the lease, you are probably responsible for paying the rent until the unit is vacated and given back to the landlord. Thus, you need to make arrangements with your landlord to make sure that he will release you from responsibility for rent and damage. You probably don't want to be paying rent for your ex and his new main squeeze.

It's beyond me why you want to live with your ex and his new girlfriend, but, because you are on the lease, your ex probably can't kick you out. However, I am not a lawyer and I haven't read your lease. You need to speak to a lawyer who specializes in landlord tenant law.

I'm not understanding how one might incur a legal obligation without (literally) signing on for it.

you are still there? Sounds like you some mental health help. MOVE OUT F the landlord your life could be in danger and you want to stay and you have children??
