Default Possible Move to Portland

Hi all,

I'm considering making a move either to Portland or Denver, and am seeking a bit of advice. I'm from the Midwest, and love the climate of the NW. I'm a single, early 30's guy and the one thing that's concerning me is all of what I've read in these forums about the "granola" aspect of Portland. I have no problem with the ultra-liberal mindset and consider myself fairly in tune with my "artsy" side, but all around I'd say I'm pretty middle of the road and down to earth.

Is Portland a good place for such midlevel, single professionals?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!
