I see a good amount of posts here with people in difficult situations looking for an affordable apartment. Luckily, we are in a little bit better position in that we just sold our house in California to someone from Tigard, lol!, and we would like to move to the west side of Portland. Our location is flexible since we telecommute.

We are focused on a few school districts to match our daughter's high school interests (biology lab, and journalism), and to be near a family member in Hillsboro. So, Beaverton is first choice, then Hillsboro, then just about anywhere west of downtown since we can't be too picky.

I've been scouring Trulia, Zillow and CL and while things looked great a few months ago, the rental possibilities have evaoporated

I made a CL ad here: Homeowner 760+ credit looking for 3-4 Bed House/Condo

I'm going to fly up on the 13th through 18th to look for a 3-4 bedroom house/condo (if 3 bedroom must have office area like den/loft/basement).

Any advice, resources, suggestions (other than don't move here, please, I've read all those posts already!)

Thank you in advance helpful Oregonians!

Rent a 3-bedroom apartment in a complex, sign the shortest lease possible, and shop, shop, shop for a house once you get here. It's easier to find places in the winter when everyone is hibernating. Your CL ad looks good, you might get some interest but be very wary of scams. There are lots of predatory people who use CL to trick people into thinking they are getting a great rental when the scammer doesn't even own the house.

Did you try Padmapper? I did a quick search using your criteria and found several possibilities.
