Check the Bethany neighborhood in NW Washington county -- loosely defined as the north side of Hwy 26 between 185 and Murray (Or Cedar Hills) exit. Great schools and very family oriented.

I'll second 2austin on Bethany Village area...I've lived there for a couple years and it's a very clean and family-oriented area. Lots of paths to walk and bike on. Lots of middle school aged kids hang out at the shopping center during summertime, and they have weekly concerts and street fairs during those months. I've never worried about my car getting vandalized or any garbage like that...it's basically a business class bedroom community. Crime and other nonsense is virtually nil. If you're an apt dweller I'd avoid the Bethany Meadows Apts if financially possible, but South Parc and Central Parc are nice complexes. It's a Portland mailing address but still Beaverton school district. It's a rung or two above Beaverton proper, subjectively. Old Beaverton has gone downhill a little bit in the decade I've lived in the area...there's areas over there I wouldnt care too much to live.
