First let me tell you why we are thinking of moving. Me and My wife are doctors, and Illinois has a huge malpractice problem. Me and my husband make aroung $500,000 a year but we have to give up about $200,000 of it to for malpractice insurance. Chicago was recently ranked as one of the least affordable places to live. I have friends who live in Aloha, Oregon and say that Portland is a great place to raise a family and to practice medicine. We bought a home in Evanston, Illinois with 5 Bedrooms and 3.5 Bathrooms for $650,000 (It was a steal!). We plan to list it for $1,450,000. I read an article that said Portland was one of the most affordable places to live. I was wondering if this was true. I am talking with realtors in Portland and they say homes are very cheap. Our Price Range is between $1,000,000 and $1,500,000 is this enough for a nice home in Portland. Does it really rain a lot like everyone says or is this a joke. I love the homes in Portland they are gorgeous. My son goes to private school but wants to go to public if we move how are the schools how do they work. I like West Sylvan Middle School how is Lincoln High School is seem mediocre at best.

Is it better than Chicago?

No, it isn't.

Is this a joke? $1-1.5 million for a nice home? That would put you in the "rich" areas..... west hills, Eastmoreland, West Linn, Lake Oswego, Laurelhurst......

First you say "me and my wife" and then you say "me and my husband". First off, it is "My wife and I" or "My husband and I". Second..... what kind of messed up person are you to have a wife and a husband????

Sounds like it's a joke to me... or someone just trying to waste other's time (a very valuable resource). That seems like such a ridiculous question if they've already talked to realtors and know how much homes go for... If you're a millionaire I'm pretty sure you could live just about anywhere... duh.

This "doctor" posted another thread in which he claimed four homes and a son in kindergarten - now he asks about a high school? Also, college/med school grads do NOT start a sentence with "me and my wife." There is an expectation of a certain grammar proficiency with that much education.

Me and my wife have lived in Kenilworth for 17 years. My wife is a real estate broker/developer, and she want's to possibly invest in property in the Lion's Gate subdivision in Schaumburg. We currently own four homes in Paris, France; Kenilworth, Illinois; Bratenahl, Ohio; and Evanston, Ilinois. I was wondering if we should make our permanent home in Schaumburg, from what I have heard of it it is a cookie cutter area. The real estate seems cheap to me, but of course our Bratenahl home cost us $3,995,000 2 years ago! We have ason who attends kindergarten at Joseph Sears so we would need to know about schools public and private, safety, parks, and of course if it is better than Kenilworth.

Thanks for everyone's help!

Sounds like the "Doctor" has a really good imagination and really poor education. No wonder malpractice insurance is so high. Chicago/Kenilworth is fine. You'd hate living here.
