My family is contemplating a relocation from Los Angeles to the PNW next summer. Portland is high on our list for many reasons. My partner and I both work from home and our 10 year old son will be homeschooled so commute and schools are a non issue.

My partner facilitates mindfulness meditation (classes, workshops, retreats, 1:1 coaching) out of our home. We're looking for a neighborhood that would be interested in this work. What do you recommend?

We assume this area is walkable/bikeable and close to the Max. We are looking to spend about $400k on a 3+ bedroom home (but could probably spend up to $500k) with a yard for gardening.

We're open to suggestions of areas outside of PDX as well. Thanks for your feedback!

more specifics?
what are you looking for in neighborhood feel?
more upscale, genteel homes, vs
blue collar, a bit "comfortable " feel where there are couches on the front porch and people hanging out?
are you wanting Eastside or Westside, how far out?
theres lots to consider..

Hmmm... honestly I figured we didn't have much choice based on our price range. We like the "Woodstock" area - so however you'd describe that. Other than the walkable/bikeable/Max close, I'd say our other priorities
are that the area is well taken care of, but not stuffy.

I assume that what we're looking for is east of the river, but not east of the 205.

That's just from driving around today.

yup woodstock would be ideal, you can find a fair amount in that price range, listings are up these days- Mt Scott is adjacent and would fit the bill as well as parts of Milwaukie, Brentwood- Darlington..
