Where do you purchase? Is it something I can get in advance? Also, what transportation systems is it good for? (i.e. bus, rail, streetcar, aerial tram) Thanks!!

Easiest thing to do is get a 1-day pass for $5 on your phone using the Tri-Met App. They are phasing that out by the end of the year and switching over to something they call HOP Pass which is either a physical card you buy at the Trimet offices or most convenience stores, or a separate phone app. You then use a credit card to load funds to it.

If you are visiting this summer your best option is to get the Trimet app on your phone and just buy $5 1-day passes for the time you are here. I think the $5 1-day pass is good for all the transit options (bus, streetcar, and light rail) except for the arial tram which has separate fares.
