Biggest fireworks show is at Fort Vancouver. You can go there early and basically tail-gate all afternoon into the evening:

Vancouver is pretty easy for fireworks (Can be seen from Hayden Island . Marine Dr as well, but these routes get closed early in day)

Due to new restrictions and security screening requirements at Ft Vancouver Historical site... Last yr I arrived 15 minutes ahead of fireworks and found a large open spot directly in front of the visitors center., I parked up by the Deaf School (North of Mill Plain), so was out of the area with NO TRAFFIC.

30 yrs ago Ft Vancouver Central Park was a JAMMED packed, events all day (No room for blankets...) and traffic for 2 hrs after the show.

This great Bluegrass festival is AFTER the 4th this year (But well worth the trip east)

I would really love to see fireworks over the water. Portland's waterfront show sounds great. We spent over an hour last year stuck in gridlocked post show traffic in Monterey. We swore never to get stuck like that again.

Good to know about getting in to Ft. Vancouver from the east. Sounds like Hayden Island may wind up being a more difficult entry/exit though a fantastic viewing location.

Man, that Bluegrass Festival sounds really fun too.

I’ve went downtown to the huge Portland fireworks display almost every year for quite a while but I got spoiled because we wouldn’t get there early and sit on the grass or fight crowds. Literally just parked at my dads office building and went to the private marina, sat on his yacht, and enjoyed front row seats to an incredible display. Highly recommend the show they put on though! It’s amazing and I love fireworks. This year I’m just watching whatever I can see from Skyline at his house for my last July 4th in Oregon. Be safe everyone and enjoy the holiday!

St Paul Rodeo is quite near and very different than what you find on a typical day in the Portland 'Zoo'.
