Default Beaverton/Hillsboro - Need nice neighboorhood close to a Max Park & Ride

My hubby and are are moving back to Portland area after 10 yrs in Miami. We miss Portland and are looking forward to moving back. Hubby will be working downtown, close to Max Line. We want to live in Beaverton or Hillsboro, in a nice, quiet neighborhood without too many squealing children (some are fine, just not tons of skaters and obnoxious ones), in a 3/2 house with a fenced yard for the dog. It must be close to a Max Park & Ride. Please advise cross streets and/or neighborhoods that are relatively quiet, safe, and close to Max Park & Ride. We are looking to pay approx $1200-1400/month rent. Thanks in advance for your help!

Mary

Default Moved from CA in FEB 08

Ck out my other post on one of the other Hlsb threads.
My daughter is moving near Ft. Lauderdale in June and is so worried about finding housing!
Like I said, the types of housing is all mixed up here. I good realtor will be your best bet. #1-tell her how much you can spend #2-tell her about your need for MAX #3-tell her you don't have kids #4-tell her about the fenced yard. If you can rent for a year it might help you pick a good location.
People say it is cheaper to live in OR than CA--it is NOT! (don't know about FL) Groceries are higher(there is only 1 WalMart on the other side of prtld), gasoline is the same, utilities are higher, house prices are the same, get electric--it is cheaper (natural gas is way too high and it is cold so our furnace runs all the time!). I like this area near Orenco. There is a lot of variety and shopping/restaurants.
I don't see anyone (kids or others) outside here; I think it is too cold and wet! Good luck to you!

Default Beaverton/Hillsboro

Thanks for the info. My husband just looked at a house last weekend that is about 3 miles from a Max Station. It is new (never been lived in) and in pristine shape with lots of upgrades. It appears somebody who lived on a small acreage subdivided thier own land and built 2 homes behind their original home. The home in front houses a pastor and his family and the one next to where we would live houses a middle aged single lady who works nights and won't be home when we are. Should be ideal for us.

Regarding your previous posts - I know what you mean about how hard it is to transition fro California to Oregon. I grew up in Oregon and visiting relatives in Bay Area, then moved to Southern Cal for 4 years, then back to Oregon. It took me awhile to re-adjust but frankly the excellent public transit, nicer people, and cleaner air appeal to me far more than constant sunshine. I hope you are able to adjust eventually....summer will be here soon!
