I DID have the perfect spot of a house... but we had to move due to the mold in the darn thing. sigh. I lived right on the bay, I could throw a rock from my yard, to the water. Used to get up some mornings and haul the kids across the street and go clamming.
My sons room looked directly over the water, and it was sooo perfect for him, we moved there just as he was getting into a Pirate stage, so watching the boats and barges go by all day and night was bliss for him. And you shouldve seen the kid come out of his skin when the "Tall Ships" came by. Theyre the ones that are replicas of the old pirate/sailing ships, in fact one of them was used in the Pirates of the C. movie. Pretty cool when they come past your house and are mock fighting! Can a young boy obsessed w/pirates ask for much more? lol
It was such a cool view though...theres a webcam right there though, you can see our old front yard in the pic. lol
but we're about 2miles away now, how sad. I cant hear the ocean anymore...nor the seals. sigh. I used to love to sit out in my yard, or the garden and listen to it all....pretty awesome at night too, we had a view of the lighthouse waaaayyy out and over, and it was always surreal to watch the light from it sweep around....bliss...
but i do like my yard now. I brought some of the roses and a couple other plants w/us to liven this yard up. I love a yard in full bloom! Still trying to convince the husband to plant an abundance of wildflowers in a plot in the corner. Sadly, we had to nix the garden, too many doggone deer! oh well....
my inlaws live on a lake nearby though.(they own a little resort on one)...and they overlook their docks too, so you can sit there and watch people coming and going from a fun day out on the lake. Wanna come on over?
Tiff

You bet!!! I think a cup of tea or if you aren't into tea, a good frufru drink in the yard, sit back, and take it all in. Funny you say that, I may take a trip up there this summer if I can stretch the working dollar a little bit. Maybe I can take you up on that....I am so sorry to hear you had to give that house up because of mold.

Clamming?? Wow, I only thought people did that in storybooks, ! That is soo cool! Even cooler about the boats. I've personallly seen the Black Pearl in person while taking the Catalina Espress out to Catalina Island, Two Harbors (where my boyfriend used to live). So, I can imagine a little boy's excitement! What a treat!

There's ways around those deer by the way. I have some friends who have a cabin up on Mt. Charleston (north of las vegas) and they have these special deer repeling sticks that makes the deer not come around again. They say it has been working. You might want to try that . I would totally do the wildflowers. Think of all the other wildlife will venture into your yards including all the birds!

There are a ton of them, in the rivers and lakes. As a sailor, they were never my favorite thing, because of the noise. On the other hand, if you sail on the Columbia, you're right by the airport, too, with jets taking off and going over the river, so it's not exactly quiet anyway.

There are some "no motor" lakes up in the Cascades, but not very many.

If you just move downstream a bit you will be well out of the flight path of the airport, and the boaters who are new at the helm.

I hear going down the river is an absolute experience. Anyone care to share details of their experiences going down the river?
