Hello everyone
One more plug for oregon garden in two weeks a beautiful hotel is opening at the top of the park with full access to the gardens..
The gardens are easy to find from interstate 5 in salem and the drive out there is always changing too..Just love playing in the dirt there.

Those are great! Thanks.
I love the wide open fields, and the trees, and the fog. Man I miss Oregon.
Thanks for sharing!

Coast
We spent the week in Portland and fell in love with the city and the coastal areas our family took us to see.

Great pictures guys! Keep 'em coming. Lets face it Portland is beautiful through out the year. So maybe this could become a four seasons thread.
I am really surprised that this thread has kept going way beyond the Spring. But that is definately a cool thing.
I was actually hoping to move to PDX and even continue with various threads for each season. But because of my wife's sister's declining health we decided to move to Monterey CA instead to be closer to family.
Anyway OR is truly a beautiful place. And that was my primary motiviation in starting this thread. Sure there are things that some may complain about like the weather. But the way I look at is you could not have all this beauty without some significant rain and clouds asw well. Then when the clouds break you are really in for a treat.

Ah, Monterey, CA... such a beautiful spot as well. Both Oregon and the California coast in that general area, are absolutely gorgeous. Enjoy while down there and best wishes to you.
I lived for a short time in San Francisco about 10 years ago. Each weekend I drove to a small town nearby and on a few weekends I went to Monterey and Carmel. I fell in love with that area, but the prices to live there were pretty astronomical.
That's one reason I ended up in Portland. Beautiful, but more affordable. Anyway, that was a long time ago..

I love all the photos, and I would feel bad for MtnSurfer not being able to move to PDX, except that Derek gets to live in beautiful Monterey instead!
I lived in San Jose for half a dozen years back in the late 80's, and visited the coast and Monterey as often as I could. I'm also a huge John Steinbeck fan, and of course once you read "Sweet Thursday" and "Cannery Row," you just must make the trip to Monterey. :-)
And everybody should see the amazing aquarium there with the kelp tanks!

Anyone know a good drive to see the Fall colors?
1-2 hours from Portland.
I went for a drive in the Mt. Hood national forest area SE of Estacada last weekend and it was beautiful, but no Fall colors.
bonus picture - hot spring and bath house

Yes, you can see the PNW Fall color updates here.
There are actually quite a few options. Mt Adams is a favorite spot for Fall colors.
