No, just pretty much everything runs together. As long as you don't live waaay out in the burbs, most of the people in the city of Portland get along really well.

Eastside, Westside
I agree that the East beats the West, but it's mostly a matter of taste and needs. The West has nice rolling hills, the light rail, and some kid-friendly neighborhoods. It also has higher property taxes (for the light rail), and more traffic congestion (in my opinion). The East has some fabulous urban neighborhoods--Hawthorne, Alameda, Laurelhurst, Sellwood, and probably the nicest neighborhood I've ever seen--Eastmoreland. It also has some pleasant, affordable residential neighborhoods--Milwaukee, Oregon City, West Linn--that are still very convenient to downtown and all the NE pockets mentioned above.

SW is overrated and overpriced. Check out Eastmoreland, Laurelhurst, or Mt Tabor. It will put the Westside to shame. The westside, and mostly the west hills, are all about keeping up with the Jones' and materialism. Not my cup of tea.

Does anyone have pics of Mt. Tabor and the reservoirs? I am so homesick for my old neighborhood, especially this time of year!

My gosh this place is beautiful. I would like to introduce myself. My name is Johannah and I am moving to Portland (Sandy)OR on 1/22 from Bakersfield California. I have been reading through this thread and see how passionate Oregonians are about their state and I hope that I blend in as an Oregonian due to the bad rap Californian's have had on the great loyal people of this very beautiful state. I know we are going to love it.
