Several acquaintances work at Nike. Company seems to do right by it's employees. Generous time off allowances for community services. My acquaintances volunteer with me at Portland Mountain Rescue and they are usually able to get free for missions. Competition for openings with Nike is fierce. Could be hard to get a foot in the door. Corporate HQ is in Beaverton alone. It's just outside of Portland, so you'll often see Nike listed with a Portland address.

I have been there, done that, at NIKE. Be warned, the hours are long and expectations high. They can consume whatever you are willing to give.
NIKE's largest Portland work-site is NikeTown. Retail also has an airport store. They may have some small groups in offices around town. Frankly I suspect that the recruiter who posted the job has found it easier to say Portland than explain that Beaverton is a suburb of Portland. Each recruiter posts their own positions. In practical terms it makes little difference whether the job is in Beaverton or Portland, if you wish to grow within the company you will work on campus at some point. The NIKE campus links to the MAX with employee buses. Other than retail there are off-campus sites such as the employee store and air sole manufacturing. Best of luck with your efforts. |

I left because one of my parents was diagnosed with a brain tumor, the other had a progressively degenerative neurological disease. They needed help that I couldn't provide while working full time. Both have since passed away. The firm continued to use my skills on a part time basis until I transitioned my former responsibilities.
The term used in large corporations for HR staff whose primary responsibility is to recruit applicants for open positions is "recruiter". Non-employee recruiters are typically used for specialty positions such as IT or high level executives where confidentiality and connections are critical, although when a corporation is doing a major ramp-up temporary recruiters are sometimes utilized. |

wow, i'm sorry for your loss...I hope you're doing ok. Yeah, I realized what you meant by recruiter after I replied, I am currently with a large well known corporation and each dept in the company has an HR recruiter as well. thanks again for the info!
