Default Any comments on Spring Garden Apartments?

Hello: I have found a $600 studio apartment on Spring Garden street in SW Portland. The comlex name is Spring Garden Apartments. I haven't found any reviews for these apartments. I will be working for Lewis and Clark College, so the location is perfect. Has any of you by any chance lived there and can you give some comments? I'm not in Portland yet and will not be able to fly there before moving. I'm a 25 year-old single male. Thanks!!!!

Default Trying to Help

I am skeptical because I see the sale of apartment buildings and when the new corporation takes over, they rename the building, to get rid of the previous bad image.
If they have done a good job with remodel, more than cosmetic, ok
If, not they can smell bad, have noisy neighbors and be of construction that dated to a time of poor building code, i.e, poor ventalition.
Ask them what was the previous name of the apartment building? Then see if it has a rating on Apartment Rating.com
Post a request for more feedback from Craigs List.
Ask them what year the building was buillt and what changes were made.
If the building is brick, it is going to be almost unbearable in the summer without air conditioning.
Don't sign a long lease, if you haven't seen it.
Read tenant law on the Oregon Bar Associate website.
When tenants cannot use weak tenant law to help them, there are tenant unions being formed with the building to force landlords to perform.
The mass influx of demand has created exploitation of the worst kind and I pray you are not one of the poor souls who suffers too much.
Take care.

Were I you I would ask someone at Lewis & Clark for access to bb for housing ads. I have no inside knowledge of their resources but almost all schools have such things. Post a notice about your housing need. Often you can find someone to stay with for a couple weeks until you ave a chance to explore your options.
