Question Am I in Tigard or Portland?

I am moving to a new apartment which is in the 97223 zip code, near Metzger Park, in Washington county. What I don't know is, should I use Portland or Tigard for my address? The USPS seems to use both! The landlady (who doesn't live there) said either works. Which do the residents use? I understand I am in the "Metzger" area as well, but that this is not actually a town.... do locals associate it with Portland or Tigard?

Any info is appreciated!

My location on that map is not in the lavender Tigard area or the pink Portland area, it's in a white area in between. I know I could use either Tigard or Portland with the postal service, the question is... which is more correct or better, and what do people living where I am in the Metzger area use? I've heard that they don't want to be associated with Tigard, yet it seems closer to Tigard than Portland.

I've always thought of the Metzger area as Tigard. Looking at a Thomas Guide, Metzger is surrounded by Tigard on all sides except the north, which is Garden Home (and itself could be either Beaverton or Portland, not sure). FWIW.

It could be different depending on what it's in regard to. Call the county assessor's office. I'd say whichever city taxes you pay is the official city you're in.

School district zoning is a different game.
I know that some Wash. county Portland addresses actually belong in the Hillsboro or Beaverton school district boundary.

I used to live in Tigard, you will get the Portland response when you do certain activities, ordering getting info on accounts ect. You are in the city of Tigard, btw go to Yan's in old town Tigard for the best Chinese food, it is a hole in the wall but worth the journey

This would drive me crazy! If you're in the city limits of a town, then your address, according to the USPS, should reflect that. In my opinion at least.
