Default What are differences between McMinnville and Forest Grove?

I'm looking for a town that is not so much a suburb of Portland, and not a new community like Wilsonville. I notice McMinnville is less expensive than Forest Grove. Is this strictly because of its difficult commute to Portland, or are there other reasons? I notice McMinnville's school scores are quite a bit lower than Forest Grove. My children are college age so this isn't imperative, but school scores do give an indication of a community.

I get the impression McMinnville has warmer summers than the Forest Grove area? Are the winters then warmer too?

Does McMinnville look anything like Forest Grove? I thought FG and even Hillsboro was pretty.

How is the drive between McMinnville and Salem?

Anyone have any knowledge of the community colleges in both areas?

Thanks for any help.

That's it in a nutshell

Weather difference is negligable. It's a tad warmer in Mc.

I agree. FG is prettier because it butts up agsint the coastal range

Not near as bad as FG to Salem

If I was not in business and merely retired, due to my enjoyment of going to the coast bi-weekly, I'd be happy with either city. But would probably prefer Forest Grove.

I prefer the Manzanita to Seaside area.

If you like coastal activities, you may enjoy the towns closer to McMinnville.
