I was being a bit tongue in cheek there, just trying to get the weather axe-grinders riled up! It worked! I welcome the change although I'm still not a big fan of snow. Growing up in New England, I've always been the killjoy come winter, when everyone else is talking x-mas and skiing, I chime in about cold, slush, bad roads and digging out your car at 5am! While pouring rain can suck I will take the gray skied mist and warmer temps over snowiness any day.
I took a nice walk today and took a buncha pics around Laurelhurst. It was interesting to see how few cars there were, even for a Sunday, but lots of people out and about enjoying the snow. I think PDX'ers were doing plenty of appreciation.

Im beyond envious!!!! Here along the coast, no snow. None at all Makes me verrrry sad, because i love snow...sigh...
Got some rain, some hail, and a few hours of blue skies, about 45degrees, so the kids were outside in the yard playing w/the dogs for a few hours....All while I kept going over and over and over and over the newstation websites around the Portland area...and fielding the gleeful phone calls from friends who got my share of the wonderful white stuff.....
somebody make me a snowangle please......

Just because you prefer snow doesn't mean those who don't are wrong. And rain? I think I've needed to put on my rain jacket only two days so far this fall.

well dang it...snowangle???? See how distressed I am? lol
I MEANT to ask, someone make me a snow angel please....hehe
hey, really, be safe out there, enjoy the beauty and the rarity of this snowfall, but do it from home as much as possible....I used to live up along the top of Dosch Rd/Vermont and I remember one year when I was young and dumb w/an equally young and dumb boyfriend and we figured "Oh, well, we're in a 4x4 pickup w/snowtires, we can get down No Prob." .....wrong. Figured that out the hard way about 1/2way down when the truck took on its own direction and went sideways. all the way down, then through the intersection (thankfully w/no oncoming traffic) and into the trees along the side of the road. We were verrrry lucky. And much smarter AFTER that. whew!!!
but ya, if youre lucky puppy enough to have tomorrow off, ENJOY!!!!!!! and hey, MORE PICS PLEASE!!!!
oh, and for those who are like my husband (who spent ALL day singing "Im Mr. Heat Miser...Im Mr Sun...Im Mr Green Christmas....Im Mr 101" Its a song off an OLD Christmas show..sigh) and are beyond anti-snow....dont worry, winter stuff like this passes verrry quickly in Western Oregon. Or, you too, could move here to the beach and get NO SNOW (sob!!)
enjoy!

I got up this am and sat on my dining room floor by the slider, coffee in hand and watching my dog in the yard! I love how it's light enough outside (around 2AM to not need electric lights!). The yard is still covered in snow, but plants are peeking through the snow cover. How beautiful it all is, and what a rarity, indeed!
For all of you naysayers, the snow will not stick around long in the metro valley. There's far too much moisture for strong Snow Angels or Snow People! But in the meantime, I am thoroughly enjoying this. People walk neighborhoods instead of driving, people tend to ask neighbors if they need anything in the store or if they are 'alright'; there is a definite calming and softening (of noise) effect.
Oh, Tiff, they showed Cannon Beach area on the news last night, and they had snow...sorry it didn't reach you ~
MassYankee...nice pic. And yes, please more pics to those who can post them! Thanks~~~

I am now officially throwing a temper tantrum....
OMG....LOVE the pics!!!! SOooooooooooooooo envious!!!! ......look at how almost deserted it looks...yeah theres tire tracks and vehicles, but wheres the kids? Oh wait, off sledding on the park hills I bet! We used to break out the sleds/skis and slide around Custer Park and the steeper roads around there (although, besides that paticular ill advised trip down Dosch Rd in the truck, that was one tempting road we avoided)
I love how fresh snow makes everything so new/different/clean/bright/fun. Are you all having a blast w/this? SeeBee, sounds like you (and your dog!) are! I agree, I love the hush that comes w/snow. Even the shouts of the kids playing in it become surreal.
no snow for me is the price i pay to live here on the southern Ore. coast. .......Im gonna have to debate this. lol
So I hear theres another bout expected on Wed. for ya'll. Is everyone prepared? Stay warm!
